1 Bermuda Syllabub

This elegant, multilayered dessert is an old English favourite dating back to the 1500s. In Bermuda, it’s made with sweetened thick cream, guava or mango jam and port or sherry. Syllabub is usually served with a johnnycake, a type of sweet bread.

2 Rum Cake

Most island restaurants serve some version of rum cake, a boozy, moist dessert that's often baked in a Bundt pan. Pick one up for your trip home (or have one shipped to you) via Horton's Bermuda Rum Cakes in Hamilton Parish. You can also dig into a slice on the spot, complete with view of Hamilton Sound.

3 Cinnamon Sugar Banana Fritters

Bananas are a big deal in Bermuda – some say that the ones grown here were the first to be brought back to England from the New World. The fruit makes its way into all kinds of dishes, from the beloved codfish breakfast to out-of this-world fritters. The treats are fried in beer batter, then rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with vanilla ice cream. For an adult twist, some spots top them with Gosling’s Rum and flambé them. Check out the recipe from Lindo's Family Foods.

4 Black Seal Rum Chocolate Mousse

If you love chocolate and rum, you should sink a spoon into this creamy, decadent dessert. This dessert embodies the rich flavour that has made Gosling’s the rum of choice in Bermuda for more than a century.
