Coral Beach & Tennis Club Doubles USTA Visitor Tournaments for 2019

The Coral Beach & Tennis Club is pleased to announce that it will host two prestigious United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Championships in 2019. 

The 2019 Bermuda Family Championships is a brand new USTA National Category II doubles tournament designed especially for families. This event will be held at the Coral Beach & Tennis Club from October 30th to November 3rd, 2019.

The 2019 Bermuda Breeze Tennis Championships is a USTA Adult National Category II tournament – designed for players over the age of 40 playing in six age groups –and will be held at CBC from April 15thto April 21st, 2019. 

The two USTA championships will build on the club’s tournament successes from 2018 and aim to bring hundreds of overseas tennis players to the Island in 2019. Top local players will also have the opportunity to shine on the club’s famed clay courts and spectators will be treated to a variety of authentic Bermudian experiences.  

The Coral Beach & Tennis Club has a long and rich tradition of hosting elite tournaments such as the XL Tennis Open. The club is spearheading the resurgence of tennis in Bermuda. 

Nik Bhola, General Manager of the Coral Beach & Tennis Club said: “We are proud to be hosting two prestigious USTA tennis championships in 2019. In April 2018 we held the first USTA tournament with former French Open winners competing for the championships. We are looking forward to hosting even bigger USTA tournaments in 2019.” 

Bermuda Tourism Authority Director of Sports, Hazel Clark OLY said: “Tennis is a popular pastime for visitors and locals in Bermuda so naturally the Bermuda Tourism Authority is happy to invest in the 2019 Bermuda Breeze Tennis Tournament. The team at Coral Beach expertly delivered the inaugural event and we expect the 2019 tennis tournaments to take the sport to the next level out here. Ultimately, events like these help all of Bermuda grow in prominence as a sport tourism destination – and that is our overriding goal.”

CBC Sports Director, Patrick Singleton OLY said: “We are honored to partner with the USTA and BTA to deliver these two exciting tournaments. We believe these tennis events will play an important role in further developing Sports Tourism in Bermuda in 2019.” 

Michael Hughes of the USTA said, "We are thrilled to have these two, high caliber events in Bermuda.  We are very excited to have Coral Beach & Tennis Club provide what will be a memorable experience for our tournament players from around the country.”

Players registered with the USTA are eligible to compete in the 2019 Bermuda Breeze Tennis Championships in the following age categories: 40s, 50s, 55s, 60s, 65s and 70s in men’s and women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles.
