Bermuda Welcomes Visitors, Safely Out of the Path of Recent Storms

Our hearts go out to our sister island nations in the Caribbean who have been impacted by hurricanes in recent weeks. Given our Atlantic location, Bermuda was more than 1,000 miles out of the path of recent storms, and is fortunately safe and sound welcoming visitors.

A beautiful view of Bermuda from Gibbs Lighthouse.

Out here in Bermuda, we are set apart by our location, way of life and a certain mystique. And our hearts beat with a Caribbean rhythm – we have family, friends and colleagues who have been greatly impacted by Irma. Bermuda is pitching in to help the islands bounce back – we’ve sent soldiers from the Royal Bermuda Regiment to help with recovery, deployed electric company professionals to get power restored, donated funds and goods to those in need, and provided refuge for people who have lost their homes.

The Bermuda Tourism Authority has also joined forces with CHICOS (the Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference and Operations Summit). We’re matching their donations to the Rotary Foundation, one of the Top 10 Charities in the World. This organization has a long history in the Caribbean, specifically in the islands hit by the hurricanes. Bermuda will be hosting hundreds of CHICOS conference attendees November 9-10, 2017 at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club to discuss how the tourism industry moves forward at this critical point in time.

We look forward to welcoming leisure visitors and business travellers, to continuing our positive growth in tourism and to delivering the legendary hospitality and island experience that Bermuda is known for.
