Bermuda Historical Society / Museum / Bermuda Public Library

Housed in the former home of our island's first postmaster, the reference section of our library has virtually every book ever written about the island as well as a collection of microfilm of Bermudian newspapers dating back to 1784. The museum contains portraits, maps, an eclectic collection of coins, Bermuda silver, Asian porcelains and pictures of horse-and-buggy Bermuda juxtaposed with modern-day scenes.

Bermuda National Trust Museum in the Globe Hotel

Governor Samuel Day built this structure in 1700. Today it is one of the oldest stone buildings on our island. The offices of the Confederate agent, Major Norman Walker, were housed here during the American Civil War (1861-1865), which makes this significant historic building a most appropriate site for the exhibit "Rogues & Runners-Bermuda and the American Civil War."

Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art

Set in the Botanical Gardens, Bermuda's first ever purpose-built museum houses a collection of over 1,200 pieces of Bermuda inspired art. World renowned artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe, Winslow Homer and Albert Gleizes are part of the Collection. A continuously evolving show of local artists is on display throughout the year. The museum features a gallery, gift ship and a café.

National Museum of Bermuda incorporating the Bermuda Maritime Museum

The Bermuda Maritime Museum is set within the Keep, a sprawling six-acre fortress at the edge of the Royal Naval Dockyard. Eight historic buildings, including old munitions warehouses and the newly restored Commissioner's House, contain a great variety of exhibitions on our rich history. Whether taking in some local history, stunning views from the ramparts, or exploring Bermuda's largest fort, there is plenty to see and learn at this important cultural attraction.

St. George's Historical Society Museum

Furnished much as it was when it was a private home, this typical Bermudian structure from the early 1700s houses artefacts and documents pertaining to our island's earliest days. The house is filled with period furniture, documents, old letters, displays of pewter, china and rare books.

Tucker House Museum

Henry Tucker, President of the Governor's Council, moved into this house in 1775, and his family remained there until 1809. Some of the treasures on view include a magnificent collection of Tucker family silver, china and crystal, antique English mahogany and Bermuda cedar furniture, family portraits by Blackburn and exquisite hand-sewn quilts.

Verdmont House Museum

This fascinating old house is considered one of our most significant historic buildings. Built c. 1710, Verdmont is a unique example of early Georgian architecture; it has remained virtually unchanged for 300 years. The museum features an extensive collection of antiques including Bermuda-made cedar furniture, portraits, English and Chinese porcelain and child's nursery. The gardens boast an assortment of herbs, old roses and fruit trees. The sweeping South Shore view is spectacular.
